The Grizzly Testing & Learning Center
What is Grizzly TLC?
The Grizzly TLC is Adams State College's Testing and Learning Center. Here at the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center we strive to promote the development of critical academic skills and independent learning through peer tutoring and individualized assessment.
In addition, we administer placement tests, tests requiring accommodations (distraction-reduced environment or test reader, for example), and makeup tests/exams.
The Grizzly Testing and Learning Center also coordinates note-takers and test-readers for students with approved accommodations under ADA.
Tutoring
The Grizzly Testing and Learning Center provides coordination of peer tutoring services. Services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and are free of charge. Tutoring is provided by trained peer tutors in both small group and individual sessions. Tutoring is available for most courses. Tutors participate in training activities to hone specific skills to better assist students engage and understand the curriculum. Individual learning differences are acknowledge and valued at the Grizzly Testing and Learning Center.
Testing
Adams State College is dedicated to meeting the academic needs of students through individualized testing opportunities. The Grizzly Testing and Learning Center provides:
- Computer-adaptive placement testing utilizing the Accuplacer Test, individualized assessment with the Study Behavior Inventory (SBI), a learning skills assessment.
- Accommodations testing for students with disabilities in a distraction reduced environment, make up tests/exams for college excused activities or illnesses, with the Dean of Student Affairs approval.
- All tests administered are proctored and the integrity of the testing situation is maintained at all times.
