Travel to Paris and Amsterdam during Spring Break with Adams State (09-10-07)

Travel to France and Holland, during spring break in March, and earn three spring college credits. Adams State College is offering an opportunity for students, alumni and community members to visit Paris and Amsterdam.

Nancy Anderson, assistant professor of art, has organized the event through Passports Education Tours.

"This is an exciting adventure," Anderson said. "It is a chance to see the sites and experience the culture first-hand, rather than just reading about them in textbooks."

The group will fly out of Denver on March 8 and return March 16. If needed, the college will arrange transportation to and from Denver.

The community, students and alumni are invited to attend. Students can receive course credit, but it is not a requirement for travel.

Eligible students may receive financial aid to help with the cost of the trip. The total is approximately $2900, depending on excursions chosen.

The fee includes round-trip airfare, stays in three- and four-star hotels, all breakfasts, some dinners, museum passes, transportation and transfers, and trip insurance.

"We will visit Nortre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and Versailles," Anderson said. "While in Amsterdam we will visit the Van Gogh museum, 17th- and 18th-century patrician houses, the hiding place of Anne Frank's family for two years before they were deported to Germany by the Nazis, and optional excursions to the countryside."

According to Anderson, the trip to Paris and Amsterdam is a destination trip, travelers may choose to go on guided tours or spend their time as they please. "Travelers may choose lots of time on their own, or band together to go with a guide," she said.
