Adams State Hispanic Heritage Month includes salsa performance (10-12-07)

The Adams State College salsa class will hold their first performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Carson Auditorium as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event is free and open to the public.

The event features Adams State staff, students, and faculty who will perform a choreographed routine to a piece of salsa dance music. Santiago Candelaria, the director of social dance at the Moving People Dance Theatre in Santa Fe, has choreographed the dances.

Dr. Juan Gonzalez, associate professor of Spanish will present a talk, "The Roots of Latin Music," before the performance.

The final event for Hispanic Heritage Month is a poetry reading by Associate Professor of English Aaron Abeyta on Oct. 31.
