ASC campus and community members offered opportunity to travel to Japan (11-14-07)
Kathy Clark, Adams State College instructor of Japanese, is organizing a trip to Japan in the spring of 2008. A pre-trip is scheduled from 12:15 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 in the Student Union Building banquet room. Refreshments will be served.
This will be the fifth trip Clark, a Japanese native, has arranged to her homeland. It is an opportunity for Adams State students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to learn the culture, art, and history of Japan. The group will leave for Japan on May 19 and return May 30. Travelers have the option of taking the trip for three Adams State credits.
"We will fly into Tokyo," Clark said. "We fly out of Osaka from the Kansia International Airport."
Clark will offer an enrichment class, Japanese Culture and Travel I, can be taken for one credit, in the spring. Students will explore the differences between Eastern and Western cultures in the class. A variety of learning tools will be used to help travelers acclimate to a new culture, including the basics of the Japanese language.
