ASC Employees Recognized for Years of Service and Promotions (05-09-05)

ASC Employees

Adams State College is fortunate to have many dedicated employees. Last week the campus held the 2005 ASC Employee Recognition Ceremony in the Adams State College Theatre Auditorium.

Faculty and staff were honored for Years of Service, they included:

Thirty Years: Tom Fuller, applications programmer.

Twenty-five Years: Johnny Martinez, custodian.

Twenty Years: Wilma Atencio, administrative assistant Financial Aid; Dr. Don Basse, professor of psychology; Johnny Bustos, general building trades assistant; Marian Hansen, administrative assistant College Center; John Neal, maintenance mechanic I; Evelyn Rizzi, library technician.

Fifteen Years: Mike Garcia, custodian; Dwight Smith, maintenance mechanic I; Maira Valdez, accounting technician I; Dr. Susan Varhely, program director Psychology Department; Ray Welch, IT professional; Cindy Young, EPLS Instructor.

Ten Years: Dr. Guy Farish, associate professor of Chemistry; Murleen Goodrich, library technician; Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy, chair ETFLC; Jeff Horton, maintenance mechanic I; Melanie Jeppesen, administrative assistant Human Resources; Patricia Martinez, administrative assistant SMT; Dr. Teri McCartney, director Graduate Studies; Cheryl Ravens, administrative assistant to assistant provost; Eva Rayas-Solis, program coordinator Foreign Language.

Five Years: Alan Carbutt, applications intern programmer; Angelica Gallegos, counseling coordinator Upward Bound; Layne Hall, crime prevention officer; Marty Heaton, assistant football coach; Dr. Stuart Hilwig, associate professor of History; Dr. David Jacobsen, associate professor of Teacher Education; Dr. Joel Judd, associate professor of Teacher Education; Lisa Knox, administrative assistant for EPLS; Stephanie Lewis, guest services coordinator; Dr. Richard Loosbrock, assistant professor of History; Ken Marquez, director of Housing & Residence Life; Wayne McGinn, head football coach; David Newmyer, IT Technician; Jason Ramstetter, wrestling coach; Partick Roybal, IT professional; Danielle Smith, records evaluator; Eileen Tilton, administrative assistant Talent Search; and Jenny Yund, administrative assistant Business Office.

Promotion for professors was also recognized: Dr. Richard Baker to full professor of English; Alberta Coolbaugh to associate professor of Business; Dr. Margery Herrington to full professor of Biology; Stuart Hilwig to associate professor of History; Kim Kelso to full professor of Psychology; William Lipke to full professor of Music; Teri McCartney to full professor of Counselor Education; and Theresa O'Halloran to full professor of Counselor Education.

The following professors were awarded tenure: Dr. Stewart Hilwig, associate professor of History; Joel Judd, associate professor of Teacher Education; William Lipke, professor of Music; and Dr. Mark Manzanares, associate professor of Counselor Education.

Two staff promotions were announced, Carol McCann to administrative assistant II in Counselor Education and Barb Friese to director of Institutional Research.

Employees retired/retiring this year include: Dr. Ted Ellis, professor of Economics; Dr. Marilyn Loser, professor of Mathematics; Dr. Larry Sveum, professor of Chemistry; Dr. Ed Adams, department head of Mathematics; Rich Scanga, Business Manager/Controller; and Sarah Johnson, administrative assistant for Counseling and Career Center.
