The District History Fair is Saturday, January 26 (01-23-08)

The Department of History, Government and Philosophy at Adams State College will host the District History Fair, part of the National History Day Competition, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 in Plachy Hall Fieldhouse, the Student Union Building and ES Building.

"History Fair permits students to construct their own arguments about the past and, in this silly age of testing, to explore and construct learning about topics that interest them," Dr. Ed Crowther, History, Government and Philosophy Department chair said.

Crowther said he expects about 300 students from San Luis Valley, Lake City, and Gunnison Middle and High Schools to participate in the fair.

This year's theme is "Conflict and Compromise in History." The students will compete in four categories: media, performance, papers, and projects. Winners will proceed to the State History Fair at CU Boulder on May 3.
