Feed your brain for optimum performance (02-20-08)

Learn how the right nourishment can maximize your brain's potential. Dr. Gina Mollet's, assistant professor of psychology, lecture "Brain Power: How Nutrition Influences the Brain," begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 in Porter Hall (the science building) room 130.

Just like your car, your brain needs special fuels to function properly. Learn how to eat for your brain. The lecture will include basic brain functioning and examine how nutrition can alter the brain's control of emotions, moods, cognitions, and behavior. The talk will also explore the influence of different types of foods, vitamins, and alternative nutritional supplements, such as St. John's wort, gingko-biloba, and ginseng, on the brain. The talk is being held in conjunction with Brain Awareness Week, an international initiative to increase public awareness of brain research.

Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. All talks are free and the public is invited. For further information on the faculty lecture series, contact Dr. Robert Astalos, assistant professor of physics, at 719-587-7821, or by email: rjastalos@adams.edu.
