Second annual Hispanic Heritage Days seeking entertainers and food vendors for Sept. 6 (08-14-08)

The Adams State College Athletic Department is planning their second annual Hispanic Heritage Days on September 6, according to Larry Mortensen, director of the Athletic Department.

Just as last year, Hispanic Heritage Days will follow the Joe I. Vigil Invitational cross country race, held at the Cattails Golf Course. However, rather than holding Hispanic Heritage Days on campus, this year the events will take place in Cole Park.

"We want to involve more of the community," Mortensen said. He said they are currently seeking food vendors and entertainers for the event. If you are interested please call 719-587-7401 or 719-587-7372.

Many of the participants from last year will return again this year, including world-renowned weaver, Eppie Archuleta. The events are from noon until 3 p.m. and will include music, cultural displays, a wool/churro sheep history and live display, traditional Hispanic artwork including jewelry and santos carvers.

The Alamosa State Bank, Colorado Welcome Center, NCAA, ASC Community Partnerships, and Valley Wide Health Clinics are cosponsoring the event.

For more information contact the Adams State Athletic Department at 719-587-7401 or Adams State Community Partnerships at 719-587-7372.
