Solar Expo is April 19 (04-15-08)

The Adams State College Environmental Action for Resources, Transportation and Health (EARTH) group and the San Luis Valley Resource Conservation & Development Council EARTH Week activities conclude on Saturday, April 19 at the Student Union Building.

Activities include a reduce, reuse, recycle garage sale from 8 a.m. until noon; free samples of radishes, and a sale of tomato plants - both grown in local greenhouses. A river clean-up is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Solar Expo speakers begin at 10 a.m. with Dr. John Miller, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, "Carbon Dioxide, Energy and Climate Change"; 11 a.m. Susan Innis, Colorado Carbon Fund Program manager, "State Incentives to Reduce Carbon," and 1 p.m. Paul Shippee, Crestone Solar School, "Sustainability and the Sun."

Participants for the Solar Expo will exhibit from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Student Union Building. They include a solar cooking demonstration; Direct Power and Water, Albuquerque; SunEdison, USDA Rural Development; San Luis Valley Rural Electric Cooperative; San Luis Valley RC&D Solar Pivot Project; Crestone Solar School, Antonito Regional Science Fair Winner; and Andy Zaugg.

ASC Community Partnership will be selling re-usable grocery bags imprinted with the logos for ASC Community Partnership and EARTH at the Expo.
