Last faculty lecture is Exploring Paradoxes in Special Relativity (04-09-08)
The Adams State College Faculty Lecture Series finishes the spring semester with Dr. Matt Nehring, professor of physics, "Exploring Paradoxes in Special Relativity," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 in Porter Hall (the science building) room 130. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Early in the 20th Century, Albert Einstein removed the fixed and rigid scaffold supporting space and time independently and he replaced it with something more pliable - spacetime. Long-held, impenetrable, concrete ideas were suddenly subjected to a new seemingly contradictory interpretation. In this talk Nehring will simultaneously explore a few thought-provoking paradoxes and experiments through the lens of Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity.
Complimentary light refreshments will be offered. For further information on the faculty lecture series, contact Dr. Robert Astalos, assistant professor of physics, at 719-587-7821, or Dr. Robert Astalos.
