Adams State College sees rise in applications (04-03-08)
Adams State College, not to be surpassed by the larger universities along the Front Range, has seen an increase in applications for the 2008/2009 academic year.
"We have been ahead in applications all year," Eric Carpio, director of admissions, said. "Among freshmen applications, the college is up about 10 percent and has an increase of 16 percent in transfer students." He said the application statistics are compared to last year's.
Colorado residents contribute to the increase and non-resident applications are up over 30 percent from two years ago, according to Carpio.
"We are excited students are choosing to apply to Adams State," Carpio said. "I believe our message of personal attention and affordability has earned the campus a positive reputation."
Student who have applied, and are not yet admitted, should check with the Adams State Office of Admissions to complete any paperwork.
Admissions' counselors will be visiting San Luis Valley high schools in early April to assist admitted students with fall 2008 registration, which begins April 7.
