ASC Music Professor, Jackson, wins award with dissertation (04-24-07)
Director of Choral Activities at Adams State College, Dr. Christopher Jackson, received a national award, the Julius Herford Prize, for Outstanding Dissertation in the Choral Field for his dissertation, Examination, Reinterpretation and Application of Selected Performance Practice in Motets of Luca Marenzo.
"I was blown-away when I got the news," said Jackson. He was nominated by his Ph.D. alma mater, the University of Arizona. According to Jackson every university nominates one person a year, and the nominations are then sent to the American Choral Directors Association panel. "It is an honor to be nominated," said Jackson. "Actually receiving the prize was not expected."
Jackson began teaching for the Adams State College Music Department in 2004. "I went to a small college for my undergraduate degree," said Jackson. "I am comfortable in a small, liberal arts environment. I enjoy my students and colleagues."
