Master of Arts in Art
The Graduate School offers course work leading to an MA in Art.
The Master of Arts in Art program at Adams State College is the only graduate program in art offered in Southern Colorado. The quality of the program attracts students not only from Southern Colorado, but also from other parts of the state, from neighboring states, and from more distant places.
The Master of Arts in Art is designed to meet the needs of three types of students:
- Recently-graduated artists seeking the opportunity to pursue more advanced study
- Art educators who seek opportunities for professional growth and sustained interaction with other art educators
- Practicing artists who seek to enhance their skills and elevate their art to a higher level
Students admitted to the program may choose from concentrations in ceramics, drawing, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture as part of the 42-credit program.
Candidates for admission to the Master of Arts in Art program must possess a bachelor's degree and must have completed the equivalent of an undergraduate major in art. In addition, they must submit a portfolio of their work, which will be reviewed by a committee of art faculty as part of the admissions process.
