Elementary Education Teacher Preparation Program (EETPP)
More Frequently Asked Questions
What is EETPP?
The Elementary Education Teacher Preparation Program (EETPP) is a specially funded program to bring selected four-year degrees to rural areas. Turn your associate's degree into a bachelor's degree.
How long will the program last?
At the current time the CCHE (Colorado Commission on Higher Education) has guaranteed two years of funding for each new program. Start of future EETPP programs is contingent upon funding availability.
What degrees will Adams State College provide?
Will I be able to complete my degree in two years if I have an AA or AS degree?
If a student enrolls in and completes course offerings as defined on their degree plan, completion is possible within two years (including summer enrollment.) Students who have not completed an AA or AS degree or who hold degrees more than 10 years old may take longer to complete their degrees.
Where will these courses be delivered?
The courses will be delivered in Douglas County.
On what days and times will the courses be offered?
Courses will be planned for evenings and weekends to maximize their availability for working adults. Some courses will be offered via PicTel, Internet and correspondence, but most will be face-to-face courses.
Will I be accepted into the program of my choice?
If you currently hold an AA or AS degree from a Colorado Institution, you are admissible to Adams State. Other coursework and preparation will be judged on a case by case basis. Additionally, recent Colorado Legislation requires a higher standard of admission to Teacher Education Programs. Teacher Education candidates must have successfully completed courses in English Composition, and Math and have a grade point average of 2.75 in their coursework to be admitted into the Teacher Education Program at ASC. Exceptions are possible for special circumstances.
Who will teach the courses?
Adams State faculty, faculty of your local community college and faculty hired especially for this program.
What if I miss a course or courses or have to withdraw from a course?
If you need to make up a limited number of courses, you may attend the summer session at ASC. Summer courses at ASC may be taken during the three-week session.
Is Financial Aid available?
EETPP students will have to apply and complete all the necessary forms to verify eligibility for ASC financial aid.
Where can I get more information or apply?
Contact the EETPP Program Manager at ascextend@adams.edu or contact ASC at 1.800.548.6679.
Is there a fee to apply for admission to the EETPP program?
Currently, the EETPP application fee is $20.00 (non-refundable).
