Assistant Professor of Sociology

Full-time Tenure Track Position

Starting Date: August 21, 2008

Position Description:

Undergraduate Sociology program seeks a broadly trained sociologist with a commitment to excellence in teaching. Special consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate teaching experience/interest in criminology, deviance, social theory, and race and ethnicity. Departmental duties include student advising, internship supervision, scholarship and service to campus and community. The teaching load is four courses per semester (12 hours).

Qualifications:

Ph.D in Sociology at time of appointment (ABDs considered) and successful college-level teaching experience are preferred. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and the ability to work cooperatively in a small department are desired. The ability to perform the above position description is required.

Rank/Salary:

Appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level. The position is a full-time, tenure track position. Salary range is $41,000-$44,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Adams State College offers a competitive benefits package.
