Dr. Svaldi thanks campus for response during water crisis (04-29-08)
This semester has moved quickly, and the recent city water crisis seems far behind us already. I am pleased and proud of our campus response. Everyone handled this inconvenience calmly and professionally. Our students proved resilient, as well, and I appreciate their cooperation and patience.
I particularly want to thank Chef Charles Maloney of Sodexho, and ASC Auxiliary Services' Bruce DelTondo and Stephanie Lewis for their quick actions in converting campus food service to a safe water supply. DelTondo and the Residence Life staff, among many others, worked tirelessly through the Easter weekend to address student needs and provide safe water.
ASC's Incident Management Team, led by Dr. Teri McCartney, Ken Marquez, and Dr. Joel Shults, Ddid a great job dealing with the situation and keeping the campus informed. Staff in Public Safety, Facilities Services, and Communications also went above and beyond. We used our new text-message alert system for the first time to alert the campus of the problem and ongoing developments.
This incident allowed the Adams State campus to demonstrate its ability to cope with the unforeseen and further refine our response procedures. Thanks to everyone who stepped up to help.
