Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership program is an outstanding compliment to the overall mission and vision of the Adams State College School of Education and Graduate Studies. The program will insure that our candidates will exhibit the qualities of a reflective decision maker and leader professionally and personally committed to a quality education for all students.

A summer residential cohort in Ed Leadership begins in June with on-campus classes followed by on-line courses in the Fall and Spring. Off Campus cohorts are usually initiated with the support of school districts. Cohorts require and adequate number of candidates, and then are closed to enrollement after the program has begun.

Literacy, Language, and Culture

Professionals who hold an active Colorado teaching license/certificate and who meet requirements for admission to a graduate level program may seek admission to the added endorsement program in Literacy, Language, and Culture Education. In order to be recommended for the added endorsement, a student must be granted admission to the added endorsement program, successfully complete all required coursework, and demonstrate a foreign language competency (speaking, writing, reading, comprehending) on a standardized assessment in bilingual education as required by the Colorado Department of Education. The added endorsement in Linguistically Diverse Education (LDE) does not require foreign language proficiency.

Special Education Generalist

Applicants are required to hold an active Colorado provisional or professional license. In order to enroll in advanced courses and internships, all students must have successfully passed all core courses, and must have demonstrated personal and professional maturity necessary for completion of the degree and recommendation for a license. Additional letters of recommendation, a site visit by faculty, and a personal interview is necessary before a final decision is made regarding the on-site or selected-site internship. Students will be considered for recommendation for the added endorsement following awarding of the Master's degree.
