Deborah Kanipe, Ed.D.
Dr. Deborah Kanipe comes to Alamosa, Colorado via Corpus Christi, Texas and is a new faculty member in the HPPE department. Dr Kanipe has a BS from Corpus Christi State and an MS and EdD from Texas A&M. A true Aggie, Debbie opted for off-the-grid living upon her arrival; wagers are currently being made regarding her chances of surviving her first real winter in Colorado!
Dr Kanipe's primary teaching responsibilities include secondary methods, motor development, and sport and exercise psychology. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses. When she is not busy preparing future physical education teachers for the challenges ahead, Debbie continues her research investigation in the areas of safety, injury prevention, and the applicability of appreciative inquiry to the physical education setting.
In her leisure time, Debbie enjoys sunshine, stellar jays, haiku, moonlight on snow-capped mountains, creative writing, and long walks in the country with her dogs.
